Hebrews 5:1-10

It’s hard to obey sometimes. If you have ever been a caregiver to a tiny human, you know that truth. Obedience can be very difficult. We like to be in control. We like to call the shots. Our human nature tugs on our hearts, tempting us to do what we want, even if we know it to be wrong. It begins in our childhood and can tug and pull on us our whole life.

If given the chance, people can rationalize just about anything, to do just about anything. We have all heard someone rationalize his or her behavior. This, however, is not the life Christ calls us to live. God calls us to obedience to Him.

Jesus was the ultimate example of this as He learned obedience over temptation. His obedience even meant He endured the cross. Through Jesus, we too can conquer temptation and live in perfect obedience to God the Father. We have victory over temptation, victory over sin, even victory over the grave itself.

Where is God calling you to obedience in your life?
