PODCAST
Continually Serve

Matthew 24:36-47
On a popular blog, the post was about the thought-provoking question, “If you knew that you were going to die tomorrow, what would you do differently?” If we would frantically reach for our “bucket list,” that may represent a selfish response. It would be nice to be able to answer that you would not do much differently.
Today’s scripture makes us think about our priorities and our relationships. It instructs us to make sure of two important realities at all times. We are to be ready (v. 44) and to be occupied (v. 46).
In reality, our thoughts might naturally gravitate toward spending a little extra time with certain loved ones or friends. The two most critical things, however, are to be ready for the Lord’s return and to be occupied in the active service of our present and coming King.
A pastor was with his parishioner whose last word was simply “Listo” (Spanish for “I am ready”). When death does come, for us it will be the same as the Lord’s return. May He find us ready and continually serving the Lord and others who are in our circles of concern.
