Psalm 138:1-8

Do you remember this hymn? “Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him all creatures here below.”

I lead the kids’ choir at my local church. I often explain to the kids how the songs and script we are working on is their gift of praise to the Father. I also explain how they are leading the congregation to the throne of grace as they worship. Once I had one of my young ladies ask me a very grown-up question. She wanted to know, “but what can we teach them?” I went on to explain that there was plenty that the adults could learn and that there were plenty of times that the kids had blessed me.

Scripture says let everyone, not just the seasoned Christ-follower, praise the Lord. This includes my inquisitive young friend, my wiser friends, and everyone in between. Our ability to bless others with God’s love doesn’t expire. If you and I are still breathing, our mission is to praise our Creator. As long as we have breath, we are to proclaim His glory and majesty.

“Praise Him above ye heavenly host! Praise Him Father, Son and Holy Ghost!”
