Mark 9:2-13
I have a sweet friend in my classroom that shows great leadership potential. One day she’s going to make a great teacher, but not yet. We have many conversations about who the teachers are in the room. We season those little chats with reminders about the importance of her listening and obeying the teachers. We try to help her understand that we love her and have her best interests in mind.
God confirmed His Son, our Teacher’s, authority in Mark 9. After Jesus’ example of baptism, scripture records that a voice came from a cloud informing all of creation that this indeed was God’s Son and that we were to do what He said. It was a “meet the teacher” experience like no other.
From time to time, God must pull us (me included) to the side and reminds us that He is indeed the only teacher in the room. He seasons the conversation with reminders about the importance of our listening and obeying the teacher. After all, He loves us and only has our best interests in mind.
