In His Presence

Psalm 73:21-28
It is so easy to be caught up in the conflicts and chaos of this world. Thousands of years ago, the writer of this psalm understood this dilemma. He cries out in grief and despair desiring God’s justice to reign, but he comes to realize that peace ultimately comes only through the Presence.
He begins to recognize the reality of the Presence, “I am always with you” (v. 23). He sings of being held by the hand of God, guided by His wisdom and walking with Him into glory.
He then rejoices in the Presence: “earth has nothing I desire besides you . . .” (v. 25). He realizes that God is his “strength” and “portion” (v. 26).
Finally, he witnesses to the refuge of the Presence: “I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge” (v. 28). We can release our worries, fears, and despair and just relax in His presence. Our God is a God of covenant. He promises protection, provision, power and presence. We must simply rest in Him through obedient faith.
