Proverbs 3:1-10

Mathematics has never been my friend. It’s easy enough to add two and two to get four, but when letters and complex stories are thrown in the mix things get a little too interesting for my taste. Nonetheless, math is important, so I learned (by the grace of God) to work through the equations and numeric oddities that compose the language of mathematics.

That said, consider this thought: “Love can only be good.” Now, let’s prove this statement. 1 John 4 tells us that love is from God and that God is love. Mark 10 states that only God is good. Therefore, if “love comes from God,” “God is love,” and “God is good” are true statements, then it’s safe to say that “love can only be good.” This statement is proven over and over throughout scripture.

There isn’t a bad variable in love because our good God created love. Love apart from God isn’t love. No matter which facet of love is examined, goodness reigns. Our God is love and love can only be good. Perhaps math doesn’t have to be complicated after all.
