Forever Faithful
December 2nd, 2020
Psalm 111:1-10
The heart of worship in the great assembly is rooted in the character and activity of God. As the people of God are gathered by the Spirit, we celebrate the faithfulness of God as we recount and remember the saving activity of God in the creation. Together we tell the story of who God is and what God has done.
We tell these stories over and over again, our voices joining in with the countless generations to come before us, because we know we are a people prone to forget. Just as Israel quickly forgets the mighty deliverance of God in the wilderness, we, too, are prone to forget what God has done when difficult days arise.
But the psalmist reminds us of the importance of recalling and reflecting upon the majestic works of God. These works bear witness to God. These works remind us of God’s continued faithfulness to His people throughout the generations. May we continue to root ourselves in the magnificent story of a compassionate and redemptive God.
