The Way of Truth

3 John 1:1-8
So many times I hear people talking about truth as if it is something they can hold in their hand. If we could just get the right things into our heads, then we will know the truth, and that truth will set us free. Such a definition of truth truly misses the point.
Truth is a way of life. Truth that is not embodied—lived-out—is not truth at all. That’s why Christians are called to walk in the truth. Jesus—His life, death, and resurrection—is the truth in flesh and blood, lived-out for all to see and follow.
Jesus’ life is the way of truth in which we are to walk. That way is significantly more than memorizing some facts and data points. It’s a living, breathing relationship that embodies the truth in our lives as Jesus embodied it in His. The only way to really stand for the truth is to walk in it.
I wonder what our communities would be like if the truth were to find its way from our minds to our hands, feet, and voices?

Amen, glory to God. Jesus says “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 May we walk in Truth which is knowledge of our Teacher and Creator, Redeemer and our only Salvation, our Lord Jesus Christ.
