Exodus 19:1-6
Have you ever felt the desperate need of a loving embrace? Well, in Exodus 19, we read one of the many passages that expresses God’s loving care for God’s children. “I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.” (19:4) This language reads as if God were a mother eagle, literally carrying her young to the safety of home.
The very essence of covenant relationship between God and humanity begins here. God has brought us to himself, has invited us into the family for no reason other than God’s love for us. As a response to this deep, tender, loving compassion, we are asked to simply obey, to live in a way that honors that covenant, that abiding relationship. If we do this, God says, we will be God’s treasured possession, more cherished than any other part of creation.
No matter where you find yourself today, you are God’s treasure. Find one way that you can live today as if you are loved and cherished by God.
