Broken Heart Comes To God

Psalm 51:10-19
A few years ago, a Christian father was shot on the street as payment for a wrong done by another member of his family. The sin, our sin, humanity’s sin is tragic. Faced with our sin, we look for escape, absolution, forgiveness, or we hope and pray it is forgotten or never discovered.
As David wrestled with the consequences of his own sin, he had to eventually deal with the public acknowledgement of what he had done. He also had to the deal with the inner voices that berated, condemned, and belittled him. We all know those voices. How beautiful is David’s conclusion that what God wants from us is simply that we are truly sorry and repentant for our wrongs. The Creator longs to give us a clean heart, which is possible because Christ was our blood sacrifice.
There is freedom, cleansing, release from guilt and it is one breath away. What guilt are you holding onto? Release it. Ask God to forgive. Accept God’s grace and live.
