Desiring For Our Eternal Home
July 26th, 2020
2 Corinthians 5:1-10
Human history is full of the tragic story of lives suddenly and tragically lost. At some sub-conscious level, we all walk through our days knowing that each and every next breath is a gift.
I have been deeply changed through the experience of ministry with those who have left their homes because of war. The uncertainty and the fear that becomes a constant companion is palpable. When even a tent becomes a source of grace and blessing, our understanding of security and refuge takes on new meaning.
God offers us the security of His eternal presence right now. It is not an antidote for the sin that brings brokenness and heartbreak to every human life. We all die, eventually. Rather, the nail pierced hands of Christ direct us toward the arms and ultimately the heart of God, who gives us an eternity that we cannot imagine. Faith leads us to accept and hold on to this glorious gift.
