Between The Waters

Psalm 1:1-6

Off the trail and down a muddy bank, one will find a tree, tucked between two places of water.

On one side of the tree is the still water of a well, whose dark, shallow water seeps up from the ground. On the other side is a stream, moving, flowing, rushing past. This stream is sometimes high, sometimes low, but always moving. This stream is busy, active, even loud, unlike the water which seeps up from the ground at the well.

Between these two bodies of water, the tree flourishes. It is wide and green, filling the space between the well and the stream. Unlike the water of the stream, which rises and lowers, the tree is steady, constant, planted.

As the people of God, we need both types of water, the still and the chaotic, to grow. Like the tree, we must find ways to live in the midst of these waters—rooted in this ground which gives living water.

Father, help me to be rooted in Your Word and grounded in Your love ! Help my roots to grow deep and not be moved. I went to be rooted so that my family will see you in me!
