Acts 1:1-11
Jesus informed His disciples to wait and receive the gift God the Father promised.
Can you imagine spending the past forty days hanging out with the resurrected Jesus and as He’s about to leave, He tells you to wait and receive? You gotta be kidding me! This is the time to act. Show yourself to the world, Jesus! This is the time to take, especially from those Romans, right?
The disciples had to learn. This power was going to restore the kingdom of God, just not as they expected. This power does not annihilate, but redeems. This gift enables all disciples everywhere to be more fully alive, witnessing like Jesus to the grace, compassion, and never-ending, always expanding, inclusive love of God.
We too need to be better at waiting and receiving.
