Our Nourishment Is To Honor God
May 3rd, 2020
Proverbs 30:1-9
My place of employment closed for six weeks, leaving my co-workers and me without pay. I worried about my “daily bread,” perhaps for the first time in my life. I had never prayed the words “Give me only my daily bread” because I had always had more than enough. Perhaps I had been guilty, not exactly of “disowning” God, but at least of not relying on Him completely.
Suddenly I knew that I would have to rely on the Lord to have food for my table. The Lord did, indeed, provide—just what I needed. A friend would bring a sack of groceries—just the essentials—just what I needed. For six weeks, I had enough every day—but not so much that I would “disown” God or forget that He was the Provider through my friends’ generosity.
Instead of the temptation to rely on ourselves and to forget the Giver of all gifts, we need to remember, whatever daily bread we have, that God supplies all our needs.
