Attend and Expect
April 24th, 2020
Acts 3:1-10
Miracles come in the process of ordinary people, doing routine things with expectation. The beggar was attending to the fact that he needed help and placed himself daily in a position of receiving, expecting help.
Had these ordinary people not been faithful to keep doing routine things with continual expectation, they would not have been in the right place at the right time to receive the miracle.
Peter acknowledged what he didn’t bring to the equation, but he affirmed boldly that he was willing to give what he did have, the name of Jesus Christ! We can imagine that this exchange might have caused him to pen the words in his first letter: “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have” (1 Peter 3:15).
Peter was prayed up and ready when the opportunity came with the beggar. The miracle so astonished the crowd that they were now ready to attend to Peter’s gospel preaching!
