How Zealous Are We for God’s House?
April 19th, 2020
Psalm 69:6-15
Some people might consider my zeal for the Chicago Cubs just a little bit over the top. When you grow up in a family of men who share the same level of zeal, only for the famed rival, it’s easy to become over-zealous.
How disheartening when we see stadiums packed to the brim with zealous fans, screaming at the top of their lungs in appreciation for their team, yet we rarely see this kind of enthusiasm for God.
The zeal God desires for us is to put ourselves aside and be purely devoted to Him. He wants us to pursue a lifestyle of holiness. He wants us to have a zeal for righteousness. Zeal challenges us to refocus our priorities and re-evaluate what is important in our lives.
We must use our zeal in thankfulness to God for all He has done for us, where He has brought us. He wants us to know Him and love Him with a deep, consuming love. He wants us to serve others the way Jesus served.
