Jesus Knows Our Motives
April 13th, 2020
John 2:13-25
Growing up in a small town, I’m convinced that my mother had spies everywhere. It didn’t matter how well my brothers and I tried to hide something we had done, mom always found out. There were no secrets we could keep from her.
Is it possible to keep something hidden; some covert piece of our life that no one will ever find out? Possibly here on earth, but we have nothing hidden from Jesus. There is not one part of our lives unknown to Jesus. He totally knows us, more than a spouse or a best friend.
Some might feel the pressure of the realization that our life is an open book to Jesus. As children, knowing that Jesus sees everything kept us from misbehaving . . . most of the time.
There is a tremendous amount of freedom in knowing that Jesus sees to the very back of our hearts. He knows the struggles, the fears, the anxiety, even the sin we try to keep locked up inside. While knowing our hearts perfectly, Jesus still loves us with an unfailing love.
May the secret motives of our hearts rejoice in the freedom of being known and loved by Him.
