Resurrection Is Life-Giving
April 11th, 2020
Romans 8:1-11
Over the last several years of my life, God has given me the huge blessing of being in prayer-mode right when I wake up in the morning. I am not what one would consider a consummate prayer warrior. So, I am thankful that I tend to wake up with God and God’s people on my mind. One of the prayers I tend to pray to start the day comes from Romans 8:11. I pray something like, “Lord Jesus, may the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead raise us also this day. Raise my wife and our kids. Raise our people. Raise the ones we’re praying for who don’t know you yet. Raise me. Raise us to newness of life today.”
Sometimes I pray that nearly word-for-word days in a row, and it’s doing a number on me. Could it really be that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead can give life to me? It’s true, if Romans 8 really does mean what it says.
I’m discovering praying for resurrection in the early minutes of the morning can start my day living according to the Spirit.
