Luke 10:8-12, 16

Ministry can be hard. Reaching out to people who don’t know Jesus, who are broken and hurting can be hard. Sometimes they welcome the message of Christ with open arms and acceptance.  Other times they throw up giant walls and lash out at those who simply want to share Christ. Often we get some combination.

Jesus’ instructions to the disciples He was sent out was clear: “…tell them, ‘The Kingdom of God has come near to you’” (v. 9b). If they will listen to you that is wonderful! If not, then simply move on. Jesus instructed His followers to share the good news, but if it was rejected they were to move on to share elsewhere.

The call for us all is to be faithful in ministering to others. We are called to reach out and love our neighbor. We do this when it is easy and when it is hard. We do it, because Christ welcomed us, and we know the difference He has made in our lives.

Be encouraged that God sees your faithful service. Continue to love and share God with those around you.
