Romans 8:31-39

Most sports superstars have a philosophy of winning that is something like, “winning takes everything.” It’s understandable, that’s their job. Yet I have never heard any of them say anything as provocative as Paul did when he wrote these words to the Romans.

As Christians, we aren’t just winners. We are more than winners. We aren’t just conquerors. We are more than conquerors. What does that mean?

The original words used in the term “more than conquerors” implies someone who is completely and overwhelmingly victorious.

We don’t fight against people; Paul warned us not to fight against blood and flesh (Ephesians 6:12). However, we do fight against a real enemy, and we fight with powerful spiritual weapons . . . and we win. Notice that Paul didn’t say we will be conquerors. He said we are conquerors, more than conquerors.

Remember that today as you face the battle. You have already won; you are completely and overwhelmingly victorious!
