Acts 4:23-31

It’s easy to remember to ask God for things like daily bread, forgiveness of sins and the like. Perhaps we even find it natural to ask God for help, resources, or answers to difficult problems.

But have you ever asked God for boldness?

It’s noteworthy that this is the prayer of the disciples immediately after they’ve been jailed for being too bold about the name of Jesus! We might expect them to pray for safety or protection, but here they are praying for boldness and for God to “stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus” (v. 30).

As a result of this prayer, the whole place where they were meeting was shaken, they were filled with the Holy Spirit, and exploded out of their prayer group empowered to speak the word of God boldly.

Today, what if you asked for God to enable you to speak the word of God with great boldness? Better yet, what if you gathered in prayer with some other believers and asked this together?
