Psalm 10:8-18

Whenever disaster strikes, whether it is a tornado that destroys homes and lives, a sickness that ravages a person, or a death that leaves a hole in a family, the same cry seems to go out every time: “Where is God?”. Even those who don’t believe want to know where God is in the midst of their suffering.

Paul offers us a sobering answer to the question, “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” (1 Cor. 12:27). When we are saved, we become a part of the body of Christ. We become the agents of God’s will in the world. Since God cares for the helpless, the grieving, orphans and widows, and all who are oppressed, holiness looks like service in the midst of tragedy. Holiness of heart and life necessitates not just purity of heart but also Christ-like action in word, thought, and deed. When those in pain cry out for God, let them see the church with hearts full of love and hands ready to help.

How can you live out holiness in your life and community today?
