Deuteronomy 11:11-21

One of my favorite childhood memories was of our family devotions. Our family would gather together, read from God’s Word, discuss what we learned, and pray together. Not everyone has had this opportunity in their lives. However, it is an example of a way in which our family took the chance to reinforce God’s Word in the lives of each person who was a part of it.
In Deuteronomy 11, we are reminded that as Christians, it is our responsibility to teach our children. The pastor simply does not have the opportunities that parents and/or family members have. Most people spend less than five hours in ministries each week. The rest of the time children are being influenced by others. They will be influenced by the media, school, extracurricular activities, and every person they spend time with.
Families must realize that they can not afford to put off the spiritual training of their children onto someone else. Instead, we need to find ways to show our children that God is the most important thing in our lives.
