Respect His Wisdom
July 1st, 2019
Proverbs 9:1-12
The origin of things and how they came about is fascinating to me. Have you ever looked at someone who seemed so deep and had a wealth of insight into the issues of life? As I have gotten older, I have come to believe that trait doesn’t come overnight for most people. It started somewhere.
The Bible repeatedly encourages us to seek wisdom. True wisdom doesn’t come from thinking deeper, concentrating harder, or reading lots of information. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. When you see the word “fear” in Proverbs 9, think of concepts like deep respect or the understanding that this person is far greater and more powerful than you. This is not a fear that insinuates being afraid, rather, it is understanding that this person has something to offer that is significant. Understanding and wisdom come from a place of relationship with God, not just knowing facts about God.
Ask for wisdom from God who gives generously.
