The Life Of Love
June 23rd, 2019
Psalm 40:1-10
Have you ever given someone the perfect gift? It is hard to do. You have to know who they are and what they care about in a deep way to get perfect gift. Most of the time, when I give a gift, I spend a lot of time wondering how the other person will react. In Psalm 40, David didn’t have that problem.
David knew that God is not impressed by sacrifice. He knew the history of God’s faithfulness to his people from promises to Abraham, through slavery, wandering the desert, and onto his own experience. He was eager to live out the law of love that God had given to His people. David was excited to tell of the wondrous acts of God’s love. He knew how to live his life as an offering to God. Through prayer, careful attention to Scripture, and the witness of our sisters and brothers, we learn to live lives of love. Let’s make sure that our lives reflect that we know who God is and what God cares about. Let us live our lives as the perfect gift to God.
