Love Each Other

1 John 2:3-17
It seems like it should go without saying that those who have been welcomed into the family of God should love each other. However, if you’ve spent any time in the church, you know that it needs to be said. We are called to be a light in the world, to show what it looks like when people live in the love of God. When we allow our disagreements to divide us, we distract people from the love of God. If we allow ourselves to see brothers and sisters within the church as enemies, we fail to show the light of God’s love to the world.
This does not mean that we can’t have disagreements, but it does mean that we need to address our disagreements in love. When we disagree, we should examine ourselves and our reactions to each other carefully in prayer. We must make sure that in all we do—in all our interactions with one another—the love of Jesus shines through us at all times. That light is the light of love.
