Determined

Matthew 18:10-20
My three children and I have a tradition we observe. Once a month or so, on the way home from school, we make a stop at the local dollar store. We are there for “gummies,” the gelatinous, rainbow-colored candies many folks know as “gummy bears.” The kids make a bee-line for the candy aisle. Then the real task begins: what to choose? During some trips the kids know exactly what they want, but sometimes they study the choices, taking time to determine what is worthy to go home with them.
Jesus was giving the disciples great authority and notice to the power of living in the name of God. The disciples had the power to direct, guide, and shape the community of Christ followers. What they said mattered not just in their lives, but in the lives of those they lead. What they determined to be worthy of following would be reflected in the lives around them, and ultimately in eternity.
What you say, do, and believe matters—not just to you, but to those you influence. Consider carefully; choose wisely.
