2 Chronicles 20:5-15

Have you ever been at the end of your rope? Maybe you’ve felt backed into a corner, in a tough spot, defeated, or discouraged. It’s easy to feel that way in difficult or challenging circumstances. In verse 12, Jehoshaphat states an honest and transparent cry from the heart: We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.

It’s apparent Jehoshaphat was at the end of himself. He was desperate. The last phrase is key: but our eyes are on you (v. 12). Notice the direction of their gaze? When you don’t know what to do, fix your eyes on God. As you read on in this narrative, the Holy Spirit came and states, For the battle is not yours, but God’s (v. 15). Are you staring down an overwhelming battle? Where is your focus? Is your gaze focused on the trouble or struggle in front of you, or is your gaze fixed on God? Fix your eyes upon God and He will fight for you. The battle is His!
