Focus On Jesus
March 23rd, 2019
Hebrews 3:1-13
The Christian’s race is not a sprint—it is a marathon.
Distractions are everywhere. Between computer and phone notifications, it is hard to focus on anything these days. Our attention span is getting shorter and shorter. It is very easy to allow these distractions to become our focus.
The author of Hebrews calls the followers of Jesus “holy” brothers and sisters. The word “holy” in this context means separate, or set apart. The author is acknowledging the separateness of being a disciple of Jesus. We live differently. Our time and energy are focused on different things then the rest of the world. Which then begs us to ask the question, “Is our focus on Jesus or are we distracted?”
The true test of focus is what we spend our time thinking about: how much time do we “acknowledge Jesus as our apostle and high priest” through prayer and reading of the Scriptures? How does this time with Jesus impact the way we live out the rest of our lives? Holy brothers and sisters, let us fix our thoughts on Jesus only!
