Acts 9:1-15

Have you ever read the directions on a set of instructions and thought, “that just doesn’t make sense. Surely it is the other way around.” Not being mechanically-minded, I often feel this way. What I believe to be the correct way of fixing something, usually ends up being quite different from how it really works.

Undoubtedly Ananias was confounded by God’s call to go to Saul. This was the man who was “breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples” (v. 1). Saul stood by, holding the coats of those participating in the murder of Christians. Saul was on a mission, with leadership approval, to imprison all the followers of Christ he could find. How could God possibly want him to go to Saul? Why would God want anything to do with Saul? It made no sense to Ananias.

God’s plans are not our plans—thank goodness! God knows things beyond what we know. And God is working to bring all things back to wholeness through Jesus by the power of the Spirit. What is God asking you to do today?
