Matthew 26:17-30
The Lord’s Supper has long been a powerful sacrament that Church partakes together. We celebrate Jesus’ last supper with His disciples. They were celebrating the Passover. This supper happened thousands of years ago. At the time, the Passover had happened thousands of years ago, yet their impact on the present is still so powerful. When we receive communion, we receive God’s grace which God has freely given throughout the ages.
It is important that we regularly come together as the Church to worship God by reflecting on the past. We get so caught up in what is going on in our lives at the moment or in what lies around the next bend that we sometimes forget about the importance of honoring God for what God has already done.
Jesus understood that something big was coming but still honored God through celebrating the Passover. We know that God is doing awesome things (and will continue to) but it is still equally important that we reflect as well.
