Ecclesia: The Called-Out Ones
August 11th, 2018
Acts 12:25—13:12
There are many lessons that could be unpacked in Acts12. However, as I read these verses, two words jumped off the page: “for me.”
Pastor Andy is a friend of mine who was also a church planter. As he followed God’s leading to sponsor new church plants he began to experience something that proved difficult: some of his best workers left to start new churches. God spoke to Andy and he shared those words with others. God said, “They are not your people, it is not your church, it is not your ministry.” How many of us need those words when it comes to letting someone go when God has called. Some of our best ministry partners are gifted not for our service but for God’s service.
Let us pray that we will continue to disciple new leaders for God’s Kingdom but to always remember that it is for God’s Kingdom and not our ministry. Let us lay hands on those who have been called and send them off with confidence trusting that God will replace that partner in ministry with someone else who needs our leadership.
