Jeremiah 43:24—45:5

What is life? The world’s view is get all you can, look out for number one, whoever dies with the most toys wins, winners never lose and losers never win. I once heard a story about a man who was lying on his bed moments before death. He was a very wealthy man who continued to prosper until he fell ill. A reporter interviewed him and asked “When will you ever feel that you have gained enough?” The man replied “It’s always just a little more.”

The world’s view of life is a dangerous vortex of “more.” More always leads to nothing however what appears to be nothing always leads to more. God promised Baruch that he will experience his anger but will survive with his life and his service. Value what is truly valuable—life and service. Jesus’ words in the Sermon on the Mount were “Blessed are the poor in Spirit” (Matt. 5:3). The literal translation says “Happy are those who beg to be non-carnal.” The only “more” we need is Jesus. What’s your legacy?

The Bible reading passage is not right here Jeremiah 43 :24-45:5; chapter 43 only has 13 verses J
