Jeremiah 9:12-24
Whenever our family has moved, we come face-to-face with our priorities. Everything goes in a box, then into the moving truck. We take the pictures off the walls and the books off the shelves. The clothes come out of the closet and the dishes out of the cupboard. When you are moving, everything—whether diamonds or underwear—goes in a box.
The last time we moved, we discovered several boxes we had not opened since our previous move, years earlier. How valuable must those boxes have been? If they were not opened in several years, why should we keep them? Unfortunately, those boxes have successfully made the transition from one attic to another, several hundred miles away.
When my wife and I have gone to be with the Lord, our daughters will go through our boxes. Much of what they find will be thrown away. A few items they may treasure. But compared with knowing the Lord, everything else is just stuff in a box.
What is the focus of your life? Is your priority stuff that will go in a box? Or is your priority knowing Jesus, who never passes away?
