Wait in Hope

Psalm 27:1-14

Waiting is not easy. Think about some of the ways our culture teaches us waiting is bad. If we go to a fast-food restaurant and wait more than 5 minutes, many of us are ready to ask for a manager to complain. We can make instant purchases on the internet and download our favorite song in less than a minute. We send instant messages and do live video chats.

We are being trained to think waiting is a bad thing. Unfortunately, sometimes we apply that logic to God. We think if we pray a certain way, or have enough faith God will instantly answer our prayers with a resounding glorious “yes!” every single time. The simple fact is this is not always how God works. God is not some cosmic vending machine, ready to dose out what we request at a moment’s notice. Sometimes we must wait, perhaps because His ways are not our ways. His timing is his own, and His presence, peace, and transformation are worth waiting for.

Thank you so much for sharing this. This everything is all about “Waiting,” I feel like all these are written for me. It’s comforting to know that the journey of waiting is part of God’s big plan in our lives. I’m excited for what God will do during this waiting period in my life and to the lives of the people I serve before I go back to the mission field.
