God Is Holy

Psalm 99:1-9
One of the first Bible verses I ever memorized was “God is love.” Pastors throughout the world preach this truth. We enjoy seeing God as love. It feels good to know His love surrounds us, doesn’t it!
While many authors, composers, and pastors preach on the love of God, fewer teach on His holiness. We often become so enamored with His love that we simply don’t focus on His other attributes. However, we discover in Revelation 4:8 that the living creatures surrounding His throne are riveted, concentrated–even fixated–on His holiness: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.” Notice they’re not praising His power or His kindness. They’re celebrating His holiness.
If I only accept God’s love, mercy, and grace but fail to recognize His justice, holiness, and judgment, I’m not seeing the totality of God. All of heaven is keenly aware of our Father’s holiness. Make no mistake, He is holy.
