Psalm 33:1-15

Many years ago, we visited the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, where we saw Rembrandt’s magnificent, oversized painting called “The Night Watch.” Five years previous, a man had slashed the canvas with a breadknife, and we saw many art restoration experts working busily to repair it. Yet no matter how much work they did to restore it, this work of art will always be attributed to Rembrandt. It was his handiwork.

God formed us in His image and we will always be His handiwork. In Psalm 33, we are reminded that not only did God create us but that He also watches over us and “considers” everything we do. We should think carefully about that. He sees everything we do, hears everything we say, knows every thought even before it forms in our minds. So how should we live? Our lives should reflect the glory of God’s handiwork. Paul says, “Be very careful then, how you live–not unwise but as wise” (Ephesians 5:13). This is our calling and God’s design for His people–to live like Jesus.
