Jesus’ Royal Robe of Sacrifice
September 17th, 2017
Revelation 19:1-16
When I was young, I enjoyed reading stories of mystery and adventure. Once the plot was established, all kinds of questions would come to mind: What would happen to the main characters? How would the story end? Would the mystery be solved? Of course, I could read the entire book, but that would take so long. Another option was to look at the ending of the book. More than once I’ve “glanced” at the last chapter of a book. My curiosity had the better of me. I couldn’t wait to find out what happened.
While we go through this life with its challenges, we have questions about how it will turn out. The book of Revelation gives us a preview of the ending: The enemy is defeated, the King is on the throne, and the great multitude of God’s people will worship the King of kings.
Jesus’ victory came at a price: “He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood” (Revelation 19:13). Jesus, the Word of God, gives us victory through His shed blood. There is no other means by which we can be saved! (Acts 4:12).
