Colossians 1:15-23
Recently I purchased a gas trimmer to keep the abundance of weeds in check. Inside the box were various parts that needed to be assembled, along with diagrams of where to put the oil and what kind of fuel to use. Also included were very specific instructions on what needed to be done, and in what order, to start the little engine. Following the instructions carefully, the trimmer started perfectly.
Sometimes we don’t like to bother with the instructions. We operate by the principle, “If all else fails, read the instructions.” Perhaps we think we know better than the one who produced the item in question. In reality, the one who produced something will likely know best how that thing operates. Thus, we turn to the operator’s manual.
Colossians makes it very clear that Jesus is the creator of all things, including you and me. He created us and therefore He will know best how we need to live our lives in order to keep things running well. He has given us the instruction book of life–it is called the Bible.
Don’t wait until all else fails. Check the owner’s manual. It will never let you down.
