Great in the Kingdom

Romans 2:17-29
“At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, ‘Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’” (Matthew 18:1). Titles and position meant nothing to Jesus. He used a child as an example, whom he identified as greatest in the kingdom. We are to have faith that is child-like without becoming child-ish.
This is the great paradox of our faith. Humility goes hand-in-glove with holiness. “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3-4).
Peter learned humility after his denial and restoration. “All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, ‘God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble’” (1 Peter 5:5b). Have you discovered the grace of humility?
