2 Kings 5:1-10

In 2 Kings 5, we learn of a young girl taken from her home against her will. She was carried to a foreign land as a prisoner of war and forced to serve as a personal aide to the wife of the commander of the very army that captured her. She was a long way from home, and her life was a far cry from the future she once dreamed of.

Yet, instead of becoming callous toward her captors, she became caring. Instead of delighting in the death sentence that leprosy had handed her master, she became determined to make a positive difference. She offered a simple suggestion to her master filled with faith and hope. Amid difficult circumstances, this faith-filled girl began affecting lifesaving change. Instead of resigning her dreams in discouragement, she leaned forward in faith and never lost hope.

Circumstances can define or refine us. Keeping and sharing the faith happens as we see how God can use us as agents of help and healing–even when circumstances seem less than ideal.
