1 Corinthians 16:5-19

Have you seen The Sandlot? A kid nicknamed Smalls moves to a new neighborhood and meets a group of kids who really love baseball. They play every day. Smalls cannot play well. Some of the boys aren’t too anxious to accept him. Smalls sees his opportunity when they lose their baseball. There are some on display in his step-father’s office. When he offers to get one, he actually hits a home run with it. The problem is, the ball goes into a yard with a ferocious giant dog known as “the beast.”

Smalls is upset, but then he learns of the ball’s true value–it is signed by Babe Ruth. When he tells the guys, they are floored and determine to help him get it back.

As Christians, we should stand firm in what we believe and keep guard. This is not for the faint of heart. This is serious. We cannot allow Satan to steal, kill, or destroy what the Lord is doing in each of us–and in the world (John 10:10).

We are not called to stand on the sidelines, but to fight on the front lines. This takes courage, strength, and trust!
