There’s An App For That

John 14:22-31
“There’s an app for that?” Well, no, there isn’t. Many devices have an icon labeled “Reminder,” to help us remember all the things we might forget! But the “application” Jesus promised in John 14 isn’t the latest creation of modern technology. No, He promised God’s Holy Spirit, a living “app.” Jesus said this Spirit “will remind you of everything I have said to you” (v. 26). This Spirit is available to those who freely receive Him.
Jesus made this promise in the intimate setting of the Upper Room, speaking to His disciples about the Holy Spirit. They didn’t realize it yet, but a satanic cyclone was about to track right through their lives. When it was over, dreams would be shattered, plans scattered, and life battered beyond all recognition. Jesus knew this. He encouraged obedience to His words. He also spoke of a “peace” that’s not of this world–all of this made possible by the Holy Spirit.
As we journey with Jesus, may we be encouraged. His Spirit will remind us if the way seems unclear.
