2 Corinthians 10:1-11
A stronghold is defined as a well-fortified place; a fortress. It can be expressed even more simply as something that has a “strong hold” on us; an addiction, a habit, unbelief, or perhaps a destructive thought pattern. It is something that, on our own, we are unable to escape its grip. What began as an innocent desire or thought now clutches firmly and settles in to occupy space in our heart and mind.
Thankfully, we are not left defenseless to fight this stronghold merely with weapons of this world. Rather, we have divine power to demolish, annihilate, and pulverize where the enemy has dared to encroach. Our divine power comes from God through our relationship with Jesus Christ. He has generously provided us with His strength and power to have bold faith, continual trust, mighty prayer, and His timeless Word. The apostle Paul also tells us to “be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power” (Ephesians 6:10).

So many of us Christians are fearful of witnessing because it may lead to comfrontation and explse our inability to argue a xefense of the gospel. This is a well founded fear–we are NOT able to witness effectively or argue persuasively for the truth of the gospel! Not as long as we are depending on our own wisdom our own words our own logic. But we must remember that we have the indwelling power and presence of the Holy Spirit who will give us the words to speak when we are witnessing a d standing in defence os the gospel and especially when we are facing persecution for our faith in Jesus. If we depend on ourselves we can only fail. If we are depending on the Holy Spirit we can only succeed!
