1 Samuel 10:9-24
It’s a scary feeling when you are ill-equipped for a new task. Your mind begins to plot and plan how you will be able to accomplish something so foreign to you. Thoughts of inadequacy race into your mind and fear can overtake you.
Perhaps a new task has been asked of you. Maybe someone has asked you to plan and run a Vacation Bible School, teach a small group, or knock on a stranger’s door and tell them about God’s love. Almost everything is daunting when you’ve never done it before.
Saul must have had the same feelings when he turned to leave Samuel. How could he lead this nation with basically no preparation other than a prophet anointing him with oil? Just as he was leaving his meeting, God empowered him.
No matter what task lies ahead of you, God can and is willing to anoint you with His Holy Spirit to help you. Step out in faith if you’ve been with Him in private. He will display His Holy Spirit in your life as you act in obedience to Him.
