Matthew 25:31-46
We should not overlook the kind of work Jesus encourages us, His disciples, to do in the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats in Matthew 25. First on the list was the sharing of food and water with the hungry and thirsty, then visiting those who are sick or incarcerated, and finally, clothing those who lack adequate covering. These are all basic needs.
To love as God loves is take care of what is right in front of you to do. The Christian thing to do is to take notice of those in need around us and then go and do something about matching your resource with that need. What can you do to bring together resources that you believe might be available to meet the needs of those in your community?
Loving like God loves is to recognize that each person matters. There is no one who is insignificant to God. Imagine working in the soup line and after filling a bowl you look up and make eye contact with Jesus. He says, “Whatever you did for the least of these, you did for Me!”
