Psalm 86:1-17

We are all poor and needy. Even though some of us are rich in material goods or land, and some are rich with a strong cash flow, and still others of us are rich in friends and family. Nevertheless, before God we are all still poor and needy.

We are certainly poor and needy if we try to live in this world without God and Jesus Christ as our Savior. Our hearts and minds need to be constantly replenished with God’s mercy, love, and unfailing grace. We are in constant need of a Redeemer. We need the Holy Spirit to guide us and empower us live godly lives. We need to be daily emptied of ourselves and filled with the Savior. This should be the daily prayer and meditation of our hearts.

We can live without things. We can even live without being associated with certain people. We cannot truly live without the joy of the Lord in our hearts. If we do, we will find ourselves constantly looking for something to fill that need. When we have that unspeakable joy that only can be found in the Lord, we will not grow weary. We will not become consumed with things that take us away from God.
