Romans 8:12-30

Many years ago I met a woman who had come to New York from Europe expecting to receive an inheritance. Her cousin had died, and she felt sure he would have remembered her in his will. She was disappointed to learn her cousin was not wealthy; she was not mentioned in his will and would not receive an inheritance.

By contrast, our Heavenly Father has material and spiritual resources beyond what we can fathom. He has said, “The world is mine, and all that is in it” (Psalm 50:12). More importantly, He is rich in grace, enough for every situation we encounter.

As children of God, we are His heirs and co-heirs with Christ, but there is a condition attached. If we share in His sufferings, we will share in His glory. Today, believers around the world suffer great persecution because of their faith in Jesus. We don’t know what sufferings may come our way, but the sufferings will not begin to compare with the glory we will share. The glory will be indescribable, far beyond all we can imagine.
