Hebrews 9:15-28

When Jesus was on the cross, suffering for the sin of humanity, He breathed His last, but before He died, He gave a triumphant shout: “It is finished!” He completed the task He came into the world to do. He paid the debt and satisfied the righteous law of His Father, giving us access to a holy God whose love required nothing less than the death of His only begotten Son.

Christ brought salvation, the purpose of His first coming to earth. So what does it mean that Christ will bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him? Aren’t we already saved? Yes, if we’ve called on His name and repented of our sins. When we are first born again, that is initial salvation. From that point forward, we are to live holy lives pleasing to God through the power of the Holy Spirit. Those who live faithfully and endure to the end will be saved. We watch for Him knowing that the work of salvation will be complete when He returns to set up His kingdom on earth. Wesley called this “final salvation.”
