Never Send a Boy

Micah 1:1-9
Human wisdom says, “You never send a boy to do a man’s job.” Some jobs are so difficult an inexperienced boy shouldn’t be expected to accomplish what’s needed. You send a man to do a big job. God’s kingdom, however, functions differently. A teenage boy named David was needed to slay a giant named Goliath. The need of mankind was much more complicated than a man-size job. It was a God-size job. Mankind could never solve the problems of sin and evil in this world. God needed to come down. So He sent a Boy, His own Son, to do God’s job.
He could have sent someone else. Yet God, because of his great love for us, and because there could be no failure in this mission, sent the best. He sent His Son, Jesus, and thereby came himself. He had every right to come down and destroy the mess that we had made of this world. However, He came not with destructive judgment, but with winsome grace.
Because the Lord of the universe came down, you can go about your work today in confidence and joy.

Sometimes, as adults, we look at those younger or even older like they cannot make a contribution to our spiritual lives, but if we listen sometimes they can teach us the best lessons about God. Through the innocence of a child or the lifetime of experience of an elder.
